Description
The responsibilities of the successful applicant include pre-clinical, clinical and didactic teaching of prosthodontics at the dental student and resident levels; scholarly activity; serving on select school committees; engaging in school governance; and participating in the school's affiliated faculty practice. Candidates should demonstrate a clear potential for academic growth in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice and service. Opportunities to further develop or refine teaching skills are offered at the university's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. The potential to earn a Master's in Higher Education Administration (MHEA) is also available and viewed favorably for those willing to make the effort. The individual should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality and collaboration. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health science educational setting is essential.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
DDS/DMD degree from a CODA-accredited dental school/college. Certificate from a CODA-accredited Advanced Dental Education Program in Prosthodontics at the time of employment. Eligible for, or has, a New York State Dental license. Experience in and an appreciation for the interdisciplinary care of patients with other dental specialists.
Preferred Qualifications:
Greater than three years of didactic and/or clinical teaching experience in a CODA-accredited dental school/college or hospital setting. Board certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics. Advanced degree(s) of MS and/or PhD in a related field (or foreign equivalent). Formal training and practice experience in CAD/CAM digital dentistry. A record of research and/or scholarly activity. Participation in organized dentistry at the local, state or national level. Desire to enroll in the SBU Master's of Higher Education Administration program.

To qualify for a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Dental Medicine (School of Dental Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
